Loved the book but some of it got lost in the making. It was made after LOTR but the CG's didn't seem as good. The actors did fine with their roles but they seemed a little flat. Not sure if it's a good or bad indication of the next…

Peter Jackson tried to take a children's book and turn it into some great epic like the Lord of the Rings--which didn't quite work.
I still found it enjoyable, though. Can't wait to see the next part. :) :) :)

Great visuals and acting, but one of the worst editing in cinematic history. Pacing is crucial in a movie and this one is poor edited, creating long lags between brilliant scenes. 3 movies? 2 would have suffice, and been far superior. …
While this was the first chapter, Mr. Jackson did an outstanding job on the movie !
It was so god that I had to pause in the middle of the movie and make some more popcorn - just to enjoy the rest of the movie !
Two thumbs up !
