This was not one of my favorites by Elin Hildebrand. It was ok, but it really was too long for what the book was about. I will still read her books, though.

4 stars. Hilderbrand writes very good beach or plane reads and this is no exception. Madeline and Grace are best friends, living an enviable life in a monied area in Nantucket. Madeline has a perfect marriage and is a famous novelist,…

I enjoyed this light read. Felt like if dragged on a bit too long and could have been wrapped up a hundred pages sooner.

Not my favorite Hilderbrand book. The characters, plot, and dialogue felt forced. Didn't suck me in like The Blue Bistro or The Castaways.

Elin Hilderbrand's novels are the perfect beach or vacation read - entertaining stories that keep your attention while keeping things light. The Rumor is no exception.

I can see how Elin Hilderbrand is the Queen of the "beach read." This is a fairly fast-paced story, without a whole lot of depth. I found it interesting that my favorite parts of the story followed the cuckolded Eddie. Although he was…

And then she told someone, and then he told someone, and... yes, that's the way gossip spreads like wildfire and gets a life of its own. "The Rumor," delivers exactly what it promises amongst the life of Nantucketers. Madeline and Grace…

A bit over the top. I don't think two families could be the victim of so much gossip all at once. Also, few of the characters are actually likeable. However, it is a quick read. I prefer many of her other books to this one.

I found this book to be ridiculous - I didn't even finish it. I have read her books before and have quite enjoyed them but this one didn't strike my fancy.

A great summer read about relationships, gossip and the ties that bind us one to the other. The alternating chapters moving from one character's point of view to another is reminiscent of Liane Moriarty.

one of her best. Read it in less than a day

I found this book to be frivolous. Maybe it was because I previously read a riveting book by another author. I'm not going to finish the book.

Typical Hilderbrand. Unfortunately, the very first book I ever read by her (Beautiful Day) turned out to be her best. Each book thereafter has been slightly disappointing just because I keep comparing it to that one. With that said,…

A good beach read, as they say. Set in Nantucket it is filled with rumors about the people that live there year round. The story unfolds and the rumors continue until the true story unfolds. Enjoyable as all her books are.

Full of everything that makes a Hilderbrand novel a wonderful read, from descriptions of food and Nantucket to a clash of privilege to friendships, rivalries, and affairs. So much fun!
