This was my introduction to Kate Morton, and I will definitely be reading more! The most intricately woven mystery, beautifully written. I highly recommend.

Richly, rendered settings with a narrative arc that links the past with the present. A spellbinding, page-turner.

This was a very good read. It is long, and oftentimes I couldn’t wait to get through it, but it is very rich in details, so you have to trudge through. It is a story about love and commitment and family dynamics and allowing children the…

The Lake House deftly weaves two mysteries 70 years apart into a compelling story that is as much about British society between WW1 and WW2 as about the disappearance of a child. Flashbacks from multiple perspectives and different times…

A brilliant story with lots of twists and turns... and every time you think you have solved the mystery, something else crops up!! Recommended!

Morton continues with her parallel storylines, surprising characters, shocking family secrets, and – a staple for all of Morton’s works – a gorgeous country manor. Half the journey is discovering how Alice and Sadie’s stories interconnect,…

Interesting read. I felt like the ending was rushed. There could have been so much more to the ending story.

The book contains every possible big-house and cold-case cliche and at just off 600 pages it certainly is a big baggy monster. There are whole plot lines that could have been omitted without loss, but the twin-narrative structure was…

This is an enjoyable read, a little contrived at the end but it did not ruin my enjoyment. I have read several books by Kate Morton and this is one of the best. She maintains various timelines and her descriptions of places and people…

This book was great, however I couldn't hold myself back and I had to find out what happened to the missing child so I read up to chapter 17 then I skipped ahead and read the last three chapters. I thought the details of the Lake House…

This one made me cry. Happy tears but tears nonetheless. Nice twist, but as others have said the ending was a little rushed. Still a great book. Highly recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Surprised when I received it (because I didn't remember placing it on hold) and surprised that I liked it. If you are a fan of alternating timelines, multiple perspectives and a splash of mystery,…

Now THIS is a BOOK! Morton is a masterful storyteller, crafting characters and events that come together like pieces of a puzzle. I lost sleep staying up too late reading this one! I don't think the ending was rushed...I just wanted to…

This was a good, light mystery novel. Kept me guessing almost to the end. It was wrapped up rather quickly however, considering the length of the book.

I did enjoy this book but like others have mentioned the ending was disappointing - it was rushed, too neatly tied up and contrived. Also could have been 100 pages shorter but having said that I didn't skip forward.

Wonderful storytelling and atmospheric novel that takes place alternately in the 1930's and 2003 on a magical estate in the Cornish countryside and in London. Eleanor Edevane and police officer Sadie Sparrow's lives intermingle through a…

A very intriguing novel! I enjoyed the parallel plot lines between the pre-World War I plot and the later mystery of the post World War II plot. Initially, in my reading, I found it confusing with the introduction of the characters of…

This is the best book I have read in a long time. Full of family secrets, missing children, PTSD, romance and murder. It switches back and forth from 1933 to 2004 A surprising ending. I will surely read some more of Kate Mortons books.
