A little boy's cat is missing and he is worried. Beautiful illustrations and a brief, easy-to-read text lead small readers on a round-the-world quest for the lost cat, and to an ending that is a wonderful surprise. Along the way, the little boy meets a wide variety of people, all trying to be helpful, and sees many beautiful members of the cat family strikingly pictured in Eric Carle's distinctive collage technique.
This popular book, first published more than a decade ago, has now been completely re-illustrated by Eric Carle and is more appealing than ever. We are proud to re-introduce it now for the delight of a new generation of readers.

Easy to read,good for starter.

Illustrations are great but the words are WAY too repetitive. There are only two lines in this story repeated over and over again. Not as fun to read as other books.

The readers in our house all agreed that this one was a little TOO repetitive as a read aloud for our two year old. She enjoyed us reading it to her but was confused about the question being on the same page as the previous answer. When "reading" it back to us she would ask the question first, then answer it.

Perfect book for a child who is just learning to read.

By far one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. The constant search to find the narrator's cat keeps your attention through every turn of the page, you can never just put the book down before reading more. I won't spoil the ending for you all, but it is a shocking ending that may or may not get you thinking that there may or may not be a sequel. Eric Carle uses his words very wisely and should keep being a prosperous author.
