4 Stars. This book was full of action and suspense. I loved the characters. Each one had a different story to tell and a different way of looking at life. I felt every emotion that each person experienced. It was almost like being in the story. My heart was racing, I was smiling with joy and was almost in tears over some of the parts of the novel. Midnight Rescue follows 27 year old Abby Sinclair. Abby is tough as nails, extremely strong and has the type of kill first, then ask questions attitude. Her only rule is to trust no one. Her newest assignment is to go under-cover in Columbia to expose an underground trading game of young girls. Kane Woodland is called to duty when Abby’s cover is blown. Sparks fly between Abby and Kane, but neither confront the other about it. There was some hate-to-love between the two of them at first. But as the story progressed, so did their attraction towards each other. I loved how all the characters are connected, not by blood, but by trust. They may hate each other in some way or some point, but they always look out for each other and trust the members of the team. Abby was somewhat cold and closed off, so I had a hard tie connecting with her. Kane, along with Isabel, Trevor and D were great though, I loved each of their POV’s! Elle Kennedy has truly written an action packed, emotional novel. Can’t tell you how much I loved the ending as well!!

Mediocre. I love ultra-competent female protagonists who more than hold their own in male-dominated fields. Unfortunately, Elle Kennedy's Abby wasn't sufficiently 3 dimensional to make me enjoy this book. All the right plot concepts and characters are there for what I thought would be a promising series. This first title wasn't enough to bring me back for the next book.
