"For two years, Catherine Marks has been a paid companion to the Hathaway sisters -- a pleasant position, with one caveat. Her charges' older brother Leo Hathaway, is thoroughly exasperating. Cat can hardly believe that their constant arguing could mask a mutual attraction. But when one quarrel ends in a sudden kiss, Cat is shocked at her powerful response -- and even more so when Leo proposes a dangerous liason. Leo must marry and produce an heir within a year to save his family home. Catherine's respectable demeanor hides a secret that would utterly destroy her. But to Leo, Cat is intriguing and infernally tempting, even to a man resolved never to love again. The danger Cat tried to outrun is about to separate them forever -- unless two wary lovers can find a way to banish the shadows and give in to their desires ..."--Publisher.

Probably would've rated the book higher if I'd been more interested. But even with my disinterest, I could see that Kleypas is a marvellous writer. And surprisingly, the story had its funny moments. Overall, I enjoyed the second half more than the first.

Loved this book. Spent so long waiting for these two characters to get together and this hilarious, adorable tale does not disappoint readers. These two are beloved characters that often make me chuckle, but their struggles also strike a chord. Leo is a brilliant character. His presence in each novel of this series has been a particular highlight for me.

The romance between Leo and Marks was being built up to during the previous two books in this series, so it was nice to see them take center stage at last. There are few things I love more than two people spending 2.5 books snipping at each other and giving all appearances of mutual loathing before eventually falling in love, and this was an extremely well-executed example of this trope. Excellent stuff.
