Claire Summers is a determined, independent single mother who is doing her best to make lemonade out of the lemons life has handed her. Keith Watson is a results-oriented workaholic with no time for a social life. As the executive assistant to a local philanthropic businessman, he's used to fielding requests for donations. But when a letter from Claire's eleven-year-old daughter reaches his desk, everything changes. The girl isn't asking for money, but for help finding the long-lost son of an elderly neighbor.

As Keith digs reluctantly into this complicated assignment, he has no idea how intertwined his life and Claire's will become--nor how one little girl's kindhearted request will touch so many lives and reap so many blessings.

Through compelling characters and surprising plot twists, Irene Hannon offers readers this tenderhearted story of family connections that demonstrates how life is like lilacs--the biggest blooms often come only after the harshest winters.

Im a Irene Hannon fan, honestly I am. But this book was a serious turn off. As usual, it is well written with all the characters so anayltical and reachable. Except the story is too typical with one too many sappy, predictable moments. Typical! a single mom with an o-so charming daughter with a 'blame my ex attutide' but she is seriously in need of male attention. I'm simply SO tried of stories like this. What about stories of restoration?..nope not the pseudo- restoration of finding 'another man who is amazingly the far better man and apparently the GOD SENT PLAN'. Why are the 'EXES' usually write offs in these stories? I am conclusive since I read to many stories with this theme and now I'm bothered. How about a story of, ok fine, divorce (sniff, it unfortunately happens to christians), forgiveness, and then another chance at that relationship. At the one you said "I DO and " I LOVE YOU" to at the first. Is a failed relationship an excuse for adultery? (a divorced woman remarrying is adultery and there are ZERO exceptions even though this book desperately tries to paint reasons) if you're talking "christian fiction" this is unacceptable) I'm sorry, I simple can not delight in a book with questionable theology under the guise of inspriational christian romance. The worst Hannon experience.

By writing a letter, eleven-year-old Haley sets in motion an emotional story of forgiveness and loss, love and learning to trust. The story is compelling and the characters feel genuine. I especially enjoyed the character of Haley. One too many viewpoints and information obviously withheld from the reader (for a brief time) marred my enjoyment of the book a little, but overall it is a deeply-felt story that touched my heart.

an inspiring look at the events that shape our lives. it was very moving and the characters were alive with distrust, love, and intervention from an 8 yr old child. a must read.
