This is the English translation of the first volume in a series that is apparently quite popular in Italy, surrounding orphan Minerva Mint, who lives in a ramshackle house in Cornwall. It's written for a relatively low reading level and yet remains fairly imaginative and has some interesting characters, even if the plot isn't earth-shattering. It's also full of cute illustrations throughout. I enjoyed it.
