Hedlund plays fast and loose with verifiable, historical facts while maligning the names and characters of those who can no longer defend themselves all in the pursuit of a more sensational story. If you are just looking for total fiction with no resemblance to fact, it's a good read. However, if you want your historical fiction to at least partially resemble the truth, stay away.
I left a comment on here that *mysteriously* disappeared. Political correctness violation perhaps?? hmm well, I will not attempt to rehash what I wrote earlier, it was live and direct and any second attempt will simply not do justice to my first original comment. After all of that, this book is good. In fact, it was the best Hedlund book considering her other 2015 releases.
