Gotta say, there was a scene where I ALMOST turned the dvd off but I stuck with it. Should have gone with my gut. This has to be one of the WORST films I've ever seen. The storyline was way over the top and I didn't really recognize Cameron Diaz at all. Not a big Cusack or Malko fan to begin with but I thought Malko was fantastic in Secretariat and pretty good in Man in the Iron Mask; other than that, not familiar with any of his other films. Same with Cusack. Stay away.

One of my favorite weird films. Every 5 minutes you start to think, "Oh, now I see where this going." No, you don't. This might be the least predictable film I have ever seen. An odd collection of actors playing a disconnected set of characters trying to control each other. A couple of people working in a very strange office discovers a tunnel into John Malcovich's head and discover they can control him. After that, it gets weird. <grin>

It might be the oddest intelligent film ever to use puppetry as a metaphor. Well-acted.

Great movie. There are so many off the wall, quirky, weird, insightful elements of this movie that are so seemlessly interwoven. Spike Jonze was in such a directorial zone in this project, that if another half dozen or so random elements were added to this film, it still would have worked very well. Great writing, great acting, great directing and great casting. I think one of the more underrated casting choices is Charlie Sheen playing himself as a caricature of himself. Sheen plays one of Malkovich's best friends and although he doesn't have much dialogue, is one of the more random aspects of this film. This is a movie you can't remake, do a sequel or prequel for. Great work.

In 50 years of avid film-watching, I've never seen a film as original, brilliant--and hilarious! John Malkovich is absolutely compelling both as subject of the film and chief actor in it. If BPL rating allowed ten stars, I'd give it a ten without hesitation.

> A joy to view this film (BJM) again, since seeing it over ten years ago.
> If you like "Being John Malkovich," consider viewing the following series: "Symbiopsychotaxiplasm"; takes 1 & 2 by director Greaves, and take 2-1/2 by Soderbergh.
> I do NOT however recommend the BJM interview extra with director Spike Jonze, especially if you have a weak stomach. {:>)

Late to the party... this was completely original and didn't see any of it coming.

Warning: This dramedy film is about as quirky and weird as it gets. If that doesn't scare you off and even intrigues you, you will probably enjoy it.
