Sure, artists like Madonna, Michael, and Bruce gave him some competition, but Prince ruled the 80s. 9 albums in 10 years, 2 of which were doubles, one of which was "Purple Rain." Lesser mortals would've taken a few years off after that, but he and the Revolution followed up the next year with "Around the World in a Day," which is sometimes considered his psychedelic album (The artwork certainly is.). Any album after "Purple Rain" was gong to suffer in comparison, but "World" has its charms, not the least of which is one of his finest songs, "Rasberry Beret." This is a Prince album for the more serious fan and like all of his 80s work, it's lost none of its appeal.
