An interesting but uncomfortable view into the everday life of a segment of society as they struggle with poverty, addictions, upbringing and other disadvantages. This is a cycle that is difficult for them to escape from. This is not a feel good or just for entertainment movie.

I wanted to like this film and thought Willem Dafoe did a fine job. The children's continuous misbehavior and incessant noise caused me to lose sympathy with their plight. A good idea, but the structure did not foster the empathy that I imagine the director wished the film to engender. Moonee's pathos was lost in the din and chaos. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Even as documentary, it would be tedious. As a movie, it's a sad reminder that given enough money, anyone can make a movie. This isn't the "Grapes of Wrath" about marginalized individuals or groups. It's an overlong, unfocused bunch of undeveloped vignettes by marginallly talented actors that desperately needs a film editor.

I really like this director a lot--Sean Baker. This is the third movie I've seen by him. He does something really unique: his movies are about marginalized people, and for some viewers, how they live their lives is repellent and disturbing , but also full of life and living. He makes no judgments. He just shows us how they live. Florida Project is sometimes funny, but the two earlier films are often funny--laugh out loud funny.
This movie is about people who are a week away from homelessness. They live in a motel room and pay by the week -- usually a mother and a child or children. It's summer in Florida, near Disney World, and the kids are out of school and roaming around and run half-wild and get into scrapes. The adults in the movie are in dire straits (but again, we are not told, we are shown) and our main mother would not be anyone's idea of a role model. She is angry and mean-tempered (not to her dtr) and a pretty scary person. Although we see her romping with her daughter, laughing and playing and they have FUN, lots of FUN, it's all precarious and on the verge of big big troubles.
It would be a mistake to shut it down after half an hour, wondering where it is going. With Baker it is always going somewhere. His other 2 movies as well are worth all the time it takes to tell the story.

Tried twice but just not my type of movie. The acting was good but having raised four children the kids in this movie made me dislike them.

Adding my 5 stars to help keep the rating from being dragged down by the eventual 1s and 2s from people who don't get it. I've now seen this twice and this is probably the best American film about childhood ever made, with the very contemporary, very real aspect to it of humans struggling to get by week to week trying to keep complete homelessness at bay. (And while that makes it sound like a downer, this is at most times a very funny, very entertaining film.)

If you like welfare, women having babies without the responsibility to raise them with respect for themselves or others then you will love this stuff. I could only watch a little before I had enough.

Brilliantly directed slice of life in the weird, plastic world of the Florida outside of Disney world. outlines the triumph of the children against all odds. Kudos to Willem Defoe for adding weight to a cast of non-actors who are riveting on screen.

acting is good..but absolutely no story line, no dramatic purpose. Just seemed to present the idea that poverty and bad parenting (and troublesome children) are all the fault of the victim.
