This remarkable novel, with many twists and turns, almost always does the unexpected. Scarlett Thomas' novels tend to come with information you probably don't know about literature, philosophy, science, and mathematics. This novel has plenty of that - interesting and informative, and also makes you want to keep reading. What is the curse of reading the book, "The End of My. Y", in the novel, "The End of My. Y"? It predates but foretells the "new weird" in science fiction. To use the old language, I found it mind-blowing. I have my own analyses of it, but don't want to include spoilers here.
This is my favourite book. I also liked her other book PopCo.
I purchased this book along with "PopCo" at an airport book shop. I had not heard of the book or the author and so had no expectations. Although I found some parts of this story difficult to follow, I enjoyed this book because the concept stuck with me for days following the end of the read. I recommend this book if you enjoy exploring quantum physics, mind experiments and liked the movies "Inception" and "The Matrix".
