Hard pass on this one. This has to be the WEIRDEST story I've ever read. I'm 40. The value of the story is only in how much our family laughed at the foolishness of each part and the "inside jokes" we have as a family because of it.

It really doesn't make much sense in terms of story construction and lacks any kind of moral/lesson learned in the book. And the solution to the problem is that a talking bone (which is weird) suddenly knows some kind of weird, dumb magic words, but can't remember how it learned them except that MAYBE it learned a spell from a witch that used to own it. Um, what?! And this family holds on to the talking bone and it keeps the kid up late.

So weird.

My 5-year-old and 3-year-old both LOVE this book. When the bone starts spouting "spell" words, they both collapse into giggles every time! Funny, whimsical, sweet; I may have to actually buy this one.
