Great Bond movie: great actors!

I saw this at a special screening the night before it was released nationally. Good film, but I was lost all throughout it. Had I known that it was a "sequel" to Casino Royale, I probably would have watched that one first. Some spectacular stunts in this one and the opening scenes will have your heart racing almost immediately. I'm not an avid Bond fan, so I can't say whether or not this film is better or worse than the others. Daniel Craig did a wonderful job as Bond, as did the other actors/actresses. I'm sure that those who have seen Casino Royale will get a lot more out of this film than I did since it seems to be a continuation that movie. Still, if you like James Bond, this one is worth renting.

the context here is even more electrifying than the action, a not inaccurate depiction of the forces that control our present governments, the corporations, even powerful individuals, potentates, dictating policy for personal and nefarious reasons, like manipulating the price of water, for instance, and not only in this movie, see, to corroborate, the scourges of the present American president - acting is exceptional throughout, superb cinematography, riveting action, plus a human interest story that hasn't lost its magic

A more thoughtful and grief-charged James Bond, with the female protagonist giving as good as she gets. The story line moves rapidly from Italy to Haiti to Europe to South America to a poignant closing scene in Russia, all with the requisite car chases and battles people have grown to expect. Interestingly, the prized resource that the villain wants control of is not what you initially think. The ending brings some closure for Bond as he saves a woman he's grown fond of and seeks to heal his own personal loss.

Absolute rubbish.

Judi Dench as "M" is even more absurd than she usually is. Naturally the head of any major government agency spends her time micromanaging one single employee. Well, maybe in Donald Trump’s nonfunctional government they do.

The movie receives its single star due to the presence of Oona Chaplin of "Game of Thrones" and "The Crimson Field".

I really like Daniel Craig as Bond, but not this movie. I was lost from the get-go.

Picking up where Casino Royale left off, this second instalment of EON productions’ James Bond saga sees a haggard Daniel Craig hot on the trail of “Quantum”, a multinational shadow organization with wicked plans to control the planet by controlling what we value most. It is far from business as usual however for this time around Bond is driven by a very personal vendetta which puts him at cross purposes with not only his own superior (Judi Dench as “M”), but a pair of ruthless CIA operatives as well. Of course the rather twisty plot takes a back seat to all the flash-bang-crash special effects starting off with a deadly car chase through northern Italy then proceeding to a parkour trek across the rooftops of Siena, a fiery maritime pursuit in Haiti, and a breathtaking aerial dogfight over a South American desert. Craig’s 007 is a sometimes off-putting but always watchable blend of iron-fisted determination and psychopathic nightmare as he kills and screws his way towards the film’s final sequence of gunfire and pyrotechnics, his ice cold stare and haunted countenance enough to make Sean Connery and Roger Moore’s incarnations soil their impeccably tailored suits. But if the comic book escapades bypass credibility the film’s underlying message of ecological devastation and government complicity (the CIA gets a big black eye and even Canada’s own CSIS is reduced to a one-night stand) tints all those screeching brakes and awesome explosions with a weighty cynicism—in fact the murder of one unfortunate character is a very apropos rehash from 1964’s "Goldfinger". The opening credits rocked too.

I am a fan of action movies and James Bond but this one was not as good as I hoped. It had some dull parts and very complicated parts.

As others have stated, rather routine, but watchable.

M: It'd be a pretty cold bastard who didn't want revenge for the death of someone he loved.
