Didn't like the writing. Dismissed it after a few pages.
I am so confused. This is (I think) three multigenerational, febrile historical/hysterical romance(s), but to me, it was another “who’s your daddy”. I read the whole long thing and, did I mention?... I’m so confused.
This was a beautiful multiple timeline novel that wove together the lives of three women whose histories were connected in some way to each other. It consisted of wartime courage, romance, and the resolute strength of females when put to the test. The three authors did an amazing job in connecting their separate timelines. All while creating an immersive and fluid story. I highly recommend the novel, as well as the audiobook for those who enjoy listening. It was beautifully narrated by three separate women who captured their heroine's story perfectly.
GREAT STORY,NOT A CLEAN READ
Story that follows 3 women in 3 different time periods spanning from World War I, World War II and 1964. I enjoyed the story but was confused at times with the jumping around between times and characters.Sometimes the chapters on the individual characters were lengthy and I had to backtrack to remember where the other character's story ended. While this is classified as historical, it has a great deal of historical romance as well.
This was a fascinating story. Four generations of women in France during World Wars I and II. Each finds the courage to support their country under the eyes of the German occupiers. The only problem I had is that the story whips from one person/timeframe to another and that can be confusing at times, especially because of the women's names - all of which are the same but variations on that name. I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed all the different storylines and characters, but I wish Aurelie had her own novel. A good historical fiction novel, but I think the trio's first two novels were better.
It’s amazing how three authors could connect and make such a cohesive family saga that spans World War I, World War II and ends 1964. It’s the story of two French women whose courage made them an important part of the French Resistance, and an Englishwoman who comes to Paris in 1964 to find out about this woman her husband while he was in France during WWII. Lots of romance, courage and interesting characters who all have a deep connection with the Ritz Hotel in Paris.
For readers who liked The Alice Network.
