Terrible movie. The acting was terrible, the characters were terrible, the soundtrack and editing was terrible. I didn't feel any sense of compassion towards any of the main characters (privileged, snarky, unsympathetic, and self-absorbed). Plus...Taylor may be a child since she can't even open the childproof bottle of pills. Seriously? A teenager that can't even open a pill bottle? This is the person that we're rooting for? I laughed. I couldn't help it. Just because I hated this movie doesn't mean that cyber bullying doesn't exist. Cyber bullying is a huge issue for some teenagers. Bullying itself is a huge issue for some teenagers. There are some that have committed suicide because of it. But instead of telling a story of a true sympathetic character (so self-absorbed and privileged) that overcomes the feelings of insecurity, refuses to be a victim, and challenges the system, it plays out as "the internet is the problem!". Maybe if we gave a better example of *how* to deal with bullying (internally and externally) it would've been a greater effort. But nope, all the internet's fault. Burn the witch. Bully has been around before the internet. Her friend was a jerk, the internet didn't magically make her say terrible things about Taylor - it was her, all her. By regulating the internet, it does not solve the problem. Yes, because of the anonymity people are more likely to bully because they feel like they can get away with it, but it just doesn't solve the problem in a whole. There is a delete button on facebook. Or maybe not go on facebook at all. Privacy isn't a bad thing. So, those are my thoughts. It was a terrible movie, but the over-acting and the pill part made me laugh. Just because it's a movie about a sensitive issue doesn't automatically make it a good movie.
