Sort of a combination of a wilder version of "The Goodbye Girl" and a tamer version of "Looking for Mr. Goodbar", translated, music and all, from the 1970's to the 2010's. The screenplay is fresh, in the moment, artistic; dialogue, excellent; the story and characters, believable. Pretty good acting from the entire cast, despite a somewhat shaky performance from the actor playing Luke, the fiancé; Greta Gerwig's acting as protagonist Lola is superb. Not a fairy tale romance story. This is real life. As it happens -- warts, beauty, and everything -- on the screen. Recommended.
