I'm having a hard time finishing this book. I'm a true crime fan and it's clear that Lasdun is not a true crime author by his highly embellished language. True crime is usually a little more straightforward whereas the author spends entirely too long getting to the point - all the way getting lost in the poetry of the written word rather than the actual chain of events. Somewhere in the middle of the book he spends like 30 pages talking about his life while traveling - which is completely unrelated to the plot of being harassed and stalked. I found myself scratching my head a lot trying to piece together his disjointed narrative which seems more like a distraction than a reporting of what it was like being a victim of a crime. In another section he basically retells another novel and fails to come full circle about how it relates to his personal story of victimhood. Not recommended for fans of true crime. At all.
