Not her best. The characters came across as caricatures rather than human beings. We have the doctor who tries unsuccessfully to balance her career with her home life, another who's affair with a married man has robbed her of too many years, the charismatic, charming devil-may-care man who goes through women like water, and one whose divorce has left him alone and unwilling to give love another chance. They all have reached a turning point in their lives, and a tragic incident during a training exchange in France forces them to confront their demons. Unfortunately the plot is totally predictable, as is the case with most of Ms. Steel's books. But this one just lacked any zing.
