it isn't God who says its ok for doctors and women to collude in birthing infants only to rip them from limb to limb and crush their skulls, so that those women can claim it was righteous to do so, for, ' it is (was) my body, and i get to decide what to do with it.' 'hands off my body!' 'hands off our bodies, don't take away our rights to self-determination!'--etc., nauseatingly etc. . . . . //Huxley wrote an excellent novel which illustrates what happens when people believe they are godless (except they secretly believe that Science is really God, and scientists are the priests of/for it): BRAVE NEW WORLD. and, if you have a prejudice against Fiction, or, specifically, Sci-Fi fiction, Huxley wrote many excellent essays on this subject, with which he was increasingly concerned as his life wore on.// John Lennon, PLASTIC ONO BAND, "GOD is a concept / by which we measure our Pain." George Harrison, LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD, "The Lord Loves Those Who Love The Lord, and The Lord says whatever you do is gonna come right back on you." Even earlier, during the film, HELP!, John is right in there swinging, mocking the scientists- tight- asses the fictional Beatles have to deal with in the farcical plot of HELP!, the movie. You don't have to be an intellectual to be righter than others. It's not as if intellectuals are the only ones granted the license to think in large terms, you know. I also recommend the Hungarian writer whose last name was Koestler, both for his nonfiction books, and for his fictional and timely, novels. What the heck, might as well throw Graham Greene in there. ( shout out to ramona). . . . THE BASEMENT ROOM. . . D. H. Lawrence, THE ROCKING HORSE WINNER. . . Maeterlinck. . .
